While we love every beach in our county, this year it’s all about avoiding the crowds. We don’t want to give away all the Coast’s gems (after all, half the magic is seeking them out yourself!), but here are just a few favorites.
Rockaway Beach – This village has “beach” in its name for a reason: Seven miles of sandy beach right off of Highway 101.
Bayocean Spit – Here you’ll likely enjoy some solitude. It’s four miles of tree-covered sand, nestled between the Tillamook Bay and the Pacific Ocean. Walk the trails on one side, or walk the beach on the other.
Sitka Sedge State Park – The Beltz Dike Trail begins in the middle of the small pasture, extends west then north on the dike for about half a mile, into a tract of vegetated dunes, and then winds over to the beach.
Neskowin Ghost Forest – Not quite a secret, but certainly hidden most of the time, this “forest” is truly unique. At high tide, the beach at the edge of Neskowin is scenic, the view dotted with sea stacks and tide pools.
