The Longboard Surfing Classic in Pacific City’s Cape Kiwanda is a popular water sporting event held annually. Over 150 athletes from around the region compete in 20 minute heats for two consecutive days. Competitors practice all year for this highly anticipated event.
The longboards measure from 9′ and up. The competition kicks off with a pre-event on a warm September Friday night with dinner and a bonfire on the beach featuring local cuisine. This prequel is further enhanced with live music and delicious themed ales provided by Pelican Brewery. Saturday’s event kicks off sharply at 8:00 am with the last board on shore by 5:00 pm.
After a full day of surfing, the participants are ready to relax at the beer garden and listen to live music. Sunday’s event runs from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm and is followed with an awards ceremony announcing the winners from 3:00 – 5:00 pm.
