DESCRIPTION:MusicOregon is conducting a statewide listening tour across seven Oregon communities from May 16 through May 23\, 2026. Each stop is a free\, two-hour public gathering open to musicians\, venue operators\, music educators\, producers\, managers\, and anyone who works in or alongside the local music scene. The gatherings are conversation-first: no formal presentations\, no agenda beyond listening. Participants will help define MusicOregon’s statewide programming\, partnerships\, and advocacy priorities for the next two years. \nThe tour is funded in part by the Oregon Community Foundation through its Arts Rebuilding Grant program\, and reflects MusicOregon’s expansion beyond its Portland origins into all of Oregon’s major music regions: the North Coast\, the Willamette Valley\, Southern Oregon\, Central Oregon\, and Northeastern Oregon. \nA statewide needs assessment survey is also open now at musicoregon.org/survey. SUMMARY:Trail Building in Nehalem Bay With LNCT!
DESCRIPTION:Every Friday\, volunteers gather on LNCT lands near Manzanita\, Nehalem and Wheeler to protect and restore habitat in the lower Nehalem watershed. We would love to see new faces out on the land!\n\n\n\nThese work parties are beginner friendly and an opportunity to learn about the engineering of hiking trails. We will be working on uneven ground\, bending\, and moving small rocks and brush during this process. Tools and gloves are provided\, new volunteers welcome and no prior experience needed. Join as frequently as you please.  Email shane@nehalemtrust.org for weekly updates on where to meet.\n\nAlder Creek Farm and Natural Area’s Nehalem Teaching Trail already supports an impressive variety of native plants and simulated ecosystems for community learning—but we’re looking to grow. This short trail will extend educational access into a different ecosystem and connect to the Natural Area’s pollinator meadow. We hope it will also add some variety to habitat access for bird watchers who visit the farm as a part of the Oregon Coast Birding Trail.

It’s something we carry\, and with the right understanding\, it can become one of our greatest teachers. This series blends neuroscience\, psychology\, and lived experience to help you understand what grief actually is\, why it affects your brain and body the way it does\, and how to move through it with more compassion\, clarity\, and even joy. \nEach session includes mindfulness practice\, movement\, real conversation\, and tools you can use immediately. Come to one or come to all\, each session stands on its own. \nWeek 1 — What We Get Wrong About Grief \nUnpacking the myths (including the infamous 5 stages) and discovering what grief actually looks like. \nWeek 2 — Grief and the Brain \nWhy grief is so exhausting\, what’s happening neurologically\, and why your brain needs delight just as much as it needs to process. \nWeek 3 — Grief Is Everywhere \nGrief isn’t only about death. Exploring the losses that don’t get named (divorce\, illness\, identity\, relationships) and what they reveal about what we love most. \nWeek 4 — From Knowing to Tending \nGrief in the body\, somatic practices\, an in-the-moment grief toolkit\, and the big question: what does your grief make clear about the life you want to build? \nLed by Morgan Motsinger: TEDx speaker\, mindfulness teacher\, psychology educator\, and bereaved parent.

SUMMARY:Home and Garden Show: Public Safety Fair
DESCRIPTION:When an emergency happens and help is needed\, whether on land or water\, first responders are at the ready. \nIn Tillamook County\, numerous organizations work together to provide a robust and cohesive emergency service network. \nAnd this year\, visitors to the Tillamook Headlight Herald Home and Garden Show on April 25 from 11 am to 3 pm will have the chance to meet some of the valiant and dedicated staff and volunteer first responders. \nOn the grassy area (just east of the skating rink parking lot) at the Tillamook County Fairgrounds\, learn about the services provided by Tillamook Fire District\, Bay City Fire Department\, Life Flight\, Oregon State Fire Marshal\, Tillamook 911\, Tillamook County Sheriff’s Department\, and Tillamook Police. \nIn addition to meet-and-greets\, visitors can interact with demonstrations from the multiple agencies. The demonstrations and interactives are free\, open to the public\, and educational for the whole family. As some activities are weather-dependent\, check back with the Tillamook Headlight Herald website and social medias for updates.
