Located a few miles north of Pacific City, Sitka Sedge State Natural Area is a perfect day trip while visiting the Tillamook Coast. With over 350 acres filled with trails, varied landscapes, and diverse ecosystems, there is something for everyone at Sitka Sedge.

Getting There
Sitka Sedge State Natural Area is off of Sandlake Rd in Tillamook County. There is a parking lot, vault toilets, and picnic tables. Leashed pets are also welcome to enjoy the trails.
Enjoy the Unique Views
While hiking the 3.5 looping trails around the park, you’ll pass through diverse landscapes that include tidal flats, marshes, forests, wetlands, and of course, sandy beaches. The trails are flat and accessible, with the first ½ mile of trail being fully ADA accessible. Bring a picnic and have lunch at the tables or benches found throughout the site.
For the Birds
Because of the variety of habitats, Sitka Sedge is a hotspot for birding. You’ll hopefully come upon Marsh Wrens, Great Egrets, and Great Blue Herons in the marshes and maybe some Pacific Wrens, warblers, and sparrows while traversing the forest. With its substantial wetlands, it is also a stopover point for a variety of migrating birds, including Dunlins, American Wigeons, Red-breasted Mergansers, and Northern Pintails.
