The Park Formally Known as Old Mill

Many locals and visitors alike have fond memories of the Old Mill RV Park, as it has been a town fixture for many years. In 2021, Roam America purchased the property with a commitment to update and add new amenities to the beloved location. I met with Shasta McDaniel, General Manager of Roam Tillamook, to get the inside scoop on their updated location. Roam Tillamook currently offers about 50 long-term RV sites, 200 shorter-stay RV sites and tent sites with full hookups, and even dry camping. The biggest addition has been the construction of 20 cabins, each with a bedroom, private bathroom, microwave, and refrigerator. Have an extra long RV? Towing a boat? Not a pro at backing up your travel trailer? Bringing your pets? Roam Tillamook can accommodate it all with extra large sites, extra parking, pull-through spots, and pet-friendly cabins.

Camping with a Dash of Glamping

You’ll find all the standard RV park amenities here, like an office (with super friendly staff) that sells ice and firewood, a variety of sites, picnic tables and firepits, a dump station, and shared bathhouses. But the comparison to standard RV parks stops there! Roam Tillamook has added new luxury “bath halls” for their guests. Enter the bath hall, pick a door, and get ready to surround yourself in comfort and privacy. Each room contains a toilet, a sink, a roll-in shower, and plenty of space to stretch out and get changed. They also just finished construction on a new clubhouse that includes cozy couches, basic food prep area, a large table, kids games, and A SAUNA! Outside you’ll find communal patio spaces, an incredible ropes course for kids (and adults!) and a propane community firepit. I can smell the s’mores from here.

Walk Where You Want To Walk

One of the best things about Roam Tillamook is the walkability. Set back from Highway 101, it feels secluded and safe, a tucked-away wonderland for families and children. Kids can quite literally “roam” freely here. Remember to bring bikes and walkie-talkies for family explorations around the park. You can head down to the bay at low tide to find crabs, walk to the Garibaldi dock for some fishing, rent a boat at the Garibaldi Marina to explore the bay, head to the train station for a ride on the Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad, or walk into downtown Garibaldi for some eats and treats at any of their fine restaurants.

Along with the RV sites, they also have a variety of meeting spaces for rent with capacity up to 200 people. These spaces include access to kitchens and AV equipment, perfect for corporate retreats or large weddings. Shasta reports that they can book the meeting rooms and all of the on-site cabins simultaneously, so families are coming from far and wide to host gatherings and reunions at Roam Tillamook.

Home Away from Home

When asked what she likes best about this location, Shasta shared, “I have lived in many places and have worked at a variety of RV parks in my past, and Garibaldi is the first place that has truly felt like home.” Garibaldi and Roam Tillamook have everything you need for a coastal escape – waterfront access, a grocery store in town, local gas stations, an eclectic mix of food options, and recreation opportunities at the local marina, pier, and docks.

Roam Tillamook is also the perfect place to stay to enjoy the annual festivals that Garibaldi hosts, including the Crab Races (the 2nd weekend in March) and Garibaldi Days, which includes a parade, live music, and fireworks (the 4th weekend in July.)

Welcome home to Roam Tillamook!
